WWE:....................... Ted DiBiase, Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton wrestle at HP Pavilion Monday
When Ted DiBiase Jr. and Cody Rhodes were growing up in the South as sons of prominent professional wrestlers, they were convinced that their fathers had one of the coolest jobs in the world.
"It was really great to be able to turn the TV on and see my dad at work," says the Mississippi-born DiBiase, the son of Ted "The Million Dollar Man" DiBiase.
"Not many kids can say that. No other kids wanted to go to their dad's accounting office and sit there with him. But I was dying to go with my dad to the arenas and hang out in back with the guys and see it all going on."
Rhodes' father, Dusty Rhodes, was already retired as a wrestler when Cody was old enough to appreciate the profession.
But the younger Rhodes still got plenty of access to the sweaty world of big men grappling in tights, since his father continued to work behind the scenes in pro wrestling.
Today, Rhodes, DiBiase and Randy Orton are part of a WWE wrestling team known as The Legacy. The name is a tip of the hat to their extensive family histories in pro wrestling. Rhodes' half-brother Dustin Rhodes (aka Goldust) is also a WWE wrestler.
DiBiase and Orton are actually third-generation wrestlers. DiBiase is also the grandson of "Iron" Mike DiBiase. Even his grandmother wrestled professionally.
The Legacy is part of WWE's popular "Monday Night Raw" show, which airs live Monday nights on cable's USA channel.http://www.mercurynews.com
